The One Where The Chase's Get Married |06.26.20|

Abbie + David

It has been way too long since I have written a blog post. COVID took me for a wild ride this past 2020 wedding season but it was honestly a dream. The fact I get to do this full time is still so surreal for me. Being a photographer in both Michigan + Arizona is even crazier. I can’t wait to share all the ways love conquered all despite all of the challenges 2020 brought our way. If I’ve learned anything this past year it is that nothing in this life is ever guaranteed, so don’t miss out on the opportunity to marry the love of your life.

Abbie was one of the first handful of brides to inquire with me after relocating to Michigan. We met at a Bigby with her mom, you know back when that was a thing to do. I was instantly so excited to work with them I just felt we meshed so well together. They were originally wanting no frills just the basics. We ended up adding some time to their original wedding package days before & were able to sneak in some detail photos & dancing photos. What made me happy was Abbie actually ended up being so glad I captured those detail photos despite being unsure at first as to what she wanted captured. It meant a lot because I truly love capturing those. I promise details do matter, no matter which package you choose try carving in some time to your timeline, even 15 minutes can get you some good documentation of those details you worked so hard to plan. Or better yet make sure you choose a photographer who is mindful of those things & thinks of that from the beginning, wink wink. COVID as always, totally affected their day. They almost postponed the entire thing & held an intimate ceremony in Ohio. Luckily things fell into place & David + Abbie were able to become The Chase’s here in Michigan as hoped. I captured their engagement photos for them the winter leading up to their day in Downtown Grand Rapids & it was a blast, so I knew their day would be amazing. Boy was I was so right. I felt like I fit right in with everyone, which always makes my job that much more fun. Abbie’s dress was amazing & she looked absolutely stunning in it. She actually had originally picked out a different dress but ended up changing her mind & going with this beauty. Their first look will absolutely melt your heart. The ceremony was so lovely. The rain, even though it caused us to have to rearrange the timeline quickly day of, gave us some amazing shots. I am so happy I had gone to Target morning of & purchased some clear pop-up umbrellas to add into “gear”. The rain forecast came out of nowhere literally night of, thank you Michigan. Despite it, we were able to capture some fun & beautiful Mr + Mrs photos with those umbrellas just wait until you see! I hope you feel alllllll the T-Swift vibes in these wedding photos. There were little Taylor Swift touches throughout their day & their first dance was even to a T-Swift song. There were so many more moments than this that I wish I could share with you & so many images I wish I could share full size but you would be scrolling for days.

Some vendors were:

Reception Hall & Cake : Sunnybrooke Country Club

Dress: Timeless Bridal Boutique

DJ: Evermore Entertainment

So here is a fun way of peeking into their wedding day…

Being apart of their day & having Abbie + David be apart of the Ali K photo fam is an honor. Third wheeling along side you & your crew was the best thing ever. I can’t wait to see all you two accomplish in a new state & see the life you two build together. Never stop eating pizza & cinnamon rolls together, always lay out in the sun, drink coffee & stop into Madcap when you visit back home, always enjoy those hugs from behind & never ever forget the excitement you felt when you first met. Your day was beautiful & I am oh so lucky to have witnessed it. Until next time you two.

Much Love,

Ali K
